Sterling Heights High School - Junior Varsity Dance Team
2016-2017 - Practice & Game Schedule
My Coaching Philosophy
As a coach, I am always inspired by the amount of learning and growth that happens when students engage as members of the JV Team. Most dancers on the team are relatively new to dance, so we spend a great deal of time working on basic techniques, and breaking steps and sequences down in a way that allows every student to be successful in performance.
Fall or Football season focuses on Dances infused Pom work and Kicks, with Jazz and some hip-hop styles mixed in for performances. The highlight of the Football season is the Homecoming Pep Rally performance where the team can show off skills they have been working on all season.
Basketball (Winter) Season will have an additional tryout for new students who want to join the team, and performances focus more on jazz and hip-hop styles of dance.
In addition to making new friends, gaining confidence, and becoming a healthier person, students on the JV Dance Team are able to feel more connected to their school and its community, while providing support and encouragement for the students on the football and basketball teams (Boys and Girls).
