The Fall Showcase performance involves students in WCSPA Levels 2, 3, and 4 that are not cast in the mainstage fall play, and is performed in the Little Theatre (free for parents and friends) one week prior to the mainstage Fall Play.
Students perform monologues, scenes, and musical theatre pieces of their own selection, which are guided by staff direction. Class time is used to rehearse all aspects of performance, with the emphasis being on the physical and vocal performance skills brought by students- rather than those added through technical elements such as costuming or lighting. Minimal costuming and technical enhancements teaches the students to use their own expression to fully convey meaning.
Fall Showcase sometimes allows students to perform in multiple pieces, often with a monologue and as part of an ensemble selection in acting, dancing, or musical theatre. Sometimes pieces that are performed at the Fall Showcase are then developed further for competitive events at the Michigan Thespian Festival in December as part of Troupe #1000.
