Welcome to my Teaching & Learning Portfolio!

About My Portfolio

Creating an online portfolio to showcase the fantastic work of my students and my own educational pursuits has been both challenging and enlightening.  In the process, I have thought deeply about what I think is most important about the experience of teaching and learning in a new era. The 21st Century is an exciting time to work in education and the applied arts because technology is rapidly changing the landscape of both performance and education.  With advancements in equipment and software, the array of possibilities for incorporating video, Web 2.0 tools and digital media into instruction in all subjects and fields of discovery are expanding exponentially.

About Creating a Portfolio

Creating my own portfolio through this website has allowed me to gain many insights about my own professional practice, including new ways to use the web to expand interaction and access to resources beyond the classroom.  The instant access that this creates for students, teachers and professionals in all industry sectors excites me and has an amazing potential to enhance student success in class.

During a time in our global economy when all facets of work and industry are shifting, it is those that can adapt who will not only survive but thrive beyond the most challenging of changes to the way we do business. Never has the innovation of technology and all it has to offer been more critical to almost every industry, large and small. It is my hope to empower students to navigate a digitally confusing world with ease, dexterity and a kind of wisdom only gained through deep understanding of both theory/principle and practice.

My portfolio is a synthesis of both current practice and future goals, which will allow students, parents and other educators to get a really detailed view of how I seek to engage students as the drivers of their own education; breaking down barriers and supporting them through careful design of individualized instruction.

I enjoy working with students the most when I am able to tap into their collective creativity and intellect in order to create a new understanding. These are the most meaningful learning experiences, and as a an educator, I am always searching for ways to allow my students to express themselves. I truly enjoy watching students discover their own creative energy, and discover their own talents or interests and pursue them with passion.
